04/11: Events and Activities
The Mushfiq Arts Centre is a lively, artistically happening place in Ottawa. The Centre offers a number of different avenues for artistic expression, appreciation and exposure.
Students' performance
This event is held once every 3 months and is a practice unique to this Arts Centre. All the students at the Centre get this rare opportunity to perform with their teachers - two professional artists; in a safe environment amidst their peers, their family and friends.
Pa Dha Ni Sa singing club
The club meets once a month at the Centre. This is an opportunity for all those music lovers out there to bring their music collection and perform in an informal, warm, creative environment.
Qawwali, Ghazal and Bhajan group classes
A group setting gives people the opportunity to learn with others. Each one learns from the others' strengths.
Tabla Class - Theory of Rhythm
This is an absolute essential for anyone who wishes to understand the complexity of Tala and develop a strong sense of types of rhythm cycles. Classes are offered at a basic level and have a logical progression in complexity.
Workshops
Vocal, Instrumental (Harmonium, Tabla), Painting/Sketching, Calligraphy and Henna.
Collaborations and workshops for Musicians
The school welcomes other musicians to bring their talent and their instruments to the Centre to create outstanding seamless pieces of rare music.
Art exhibitions
The school welcomes visual artists to display their work at the art gallery that draws a large audiences from across Ottawa and neighbouring areas.
